Artist- Sam Messenger

I found these tonight and I think they are incredible and so complex. We are currently looking at black and white sketching in class (no where as complex or amazing as these) so I have been doing a little research.

There are also a lot of great other artists on the "Davidson Contemporary Art" website, which you can visit by clicking here.

this first drawing was done using pen, black and white inks and watercolour

this second one was done using pen, ink and graphite

Illustrator- Patti Jordan

Stumbled across these amazing illustrations by Patti Jordan using ink and graphite. I can't decide which one I love best, all!.

You can view her website here.

Classes are officially underway and I have kissed goodbye any chances of having a social life for a while. I am very sure that my liver and bank balance will thank me.

Photographer- Valentina Vallone

So dreamy, I love Valentina Vallones style of photography very very much. I want to use this sort of thing in some of my future designs.

I love love love these photographs.

Melancholia

I have not been hit this hard by a film for a very long time.

Kristen Dunst and Charlotte Gainsbourg blew me away. I absolutely loved the parallel between the planet "Melancholia" and depression and anxiety. I feel that each character in the film had a form of depression, and when the reality that their world was coming to an end brought out the ugly side of the sadness that each one had been repressing.

I loved the character "Claire" as I feel her anxiety at the world ending and her desperation to take control of the situation in any way is very close to how I feel I would react in such a situation.

This is a film I am going to be thinking about and talking about for a very very long time. Such a good job, incredible. Blown away.

“Sometimes I’d wake up at two or three in the morning and not be able to fall asleep again. I’d get out of bed, go to the kitchen, and pour myself a whiskey. Glass in hand, I’d look down at the darkened cemetery across the way and the headlights of the cars on the road. The moments of time linking night and dawn were long and dark. If I could cry, it might make things easier. But what would I cry over? Who would I cry for? I was too self-centered to cry for other people, too old to cry for myself.”
— South of the Border, West of the Sun by Haruki Murakami.
This week. Crunch Time.

Random Adventuring

In light of this weeks health scare, I have decided to throw my life to the wind. I have quit my job, and I am currently packing a small bag to go...well...to a mystery destination! I will know more tonight.

This is exactly what I need!
